NOSE2008-ABOUT the CONFERENCE

In the last 20 years, odours have become a serious environmental concern. Although odorous compounds are not necessarily toxic or hazardous for human health, it has been demonstrated that the psychophysical well-being and behaviour of people may be negatively influenced by exposure to odours.
Odour emissions from industrial processes were
once accepted as part of the activity itself, but recently, the tolerance of people appears to be reduced by an increased attention towards environmental and health topics.
This higher degree of environmental awareness concerning odour nuisance problems brought to the necessity of developing specific techniques for odour control and measurement.
This event focuses on recent developments in odour policy and regulation, on tools for odour assessment, including emission sampling, measurement and odour impact evaluation, and on odour management for specific sectors of industry, waste management and agriculture.
The conference should represent a possibility for the members of the increasing community of odour management practitioners to meet, exchange views, and achieve a better understanding of the specific difficulties and available solutions relevant to environmental odour problems.
